The innovation of your dreams, done right!
After launching their first issue, much of their audience was looking for Solar and Lithium power guidance (as well as themselves). During their search, they wanted an upfit service they could trust to recommend to their community as well as help clarify solar questions for their magazine.
Demian and Nikki came out to Elkhart, IN while getting other RV work done before their upfit. In that time, they took a tour of our new location, learned about our company's start and our parent company, what products we stand behind and why, as well as worked their way from an ambassadorship to a partnership.
Rootless Living's first-hand experience boondocking helps us to better understand the daily life as it evolves with greater technology to see what works well and what needs more work to accomplish the goal user experience. Their follower's input is taken to heart and voiced so that changes can be made to the industry.
Our partnership has allowed our companies to work together and bring RVers the best resources we can. Through podcast interviews, blogs about Solar power, customer FAQ answered in articles, and advertising through their issues, we have had the chance to help educate a larger audience so they can feel more confident in their decisions about Solar and Lithium.
Their new system allows them to boondock while working as entrepreneurial digital nomads, magazine creators, and a perfect example of what life is like Rootless. With 2500W of Solar feeding an 800Ahr battery bank, their system generates between ____ and ____ per day with good sunlight. This makes morning Keurig coffee, dual laptop charging, phone charging, heating, and air conditioning all possible in their daily off-grid life.

"Our road to solar is probably a lot like most people in the sense that when we went full time, we really didn’t know anything about solar. We were sitting there talking to the dealer and the cost of solar way SO enormous and the capabilities just weren’t there back in 2017.
Now, you fast forward a couple years living this lifestyle, boondocking and being in amazing places like the desert in Arizona or the beaches in Texas or farms in Oklahoma and you’re tethered to this generator and the sound with the generator.
It wasn’t until finally we went, that’s it. We want solar. Let’s find out where we should get it. We did our own research and we contacted some friends that we know that had a solar install and every path led back to Future Solutions.
Even our first call with them was really educating and informative. We thought we knew some stuff but we really didn’t know what we need to know to make our rig work the way we wanted to. So, from that call, us explaining what we want, to them calling us back giving different plans we can choose from. Kind of like a plan in the middle like we discussed, a plan that’s a little bit of a step down, and a plan that would be above.
The one great thing about these three options is that we could grow but, if you know us, we decided to get the biggest option possible. Now, the install process was amazing as well, too. You literally drop your rig off, they get to work on it and then you pick it up. And it’s done, but, it’s done in a way that I even I was impressed (even though I had done some research). You know, it just reminded me of when they do those really nice car installs. That’s the time and dedication they take into making sure that it looks show ready.
What was really funny for us was that we ended up with more storage space after the solar install than we did before. I can’t promise that will happen to you but the way our rig was built, that happened for us. It's been amazing!
So, the entire purchase process, the installation process, the really getting to understand solar process was amazing and because of that obviously, we highly recommend Future Solutions but there's another side to this. I think anybody as they’re getting something installed can do testimonies and get really excited.
Now, this happened back in September (2020). Fast forward to us right now: it's December. We've been able to use our system quite a few times already even though we're not doing what we hoped to be our Spring, Summer, Fall kind of boondocking, there are so many ways in and around using solar we just never thought of.
Just simple things like we don't have to run our propane anymore when we're driving. When we get to a place, we don't have to hook in immediately. If we end up at a 30 AMP, we can basically charge disconnected or run our rig like a 50 AMP if we needed to. The ability to run your ACs like it's on 50 AMP is pretty remarkable and to be completely untethered or not plugged in and not running a generator is life changing when you're in those spots that are life changing, that's for sure.
When people ask me about my solar install, I tell them exactly what I'm saying right here. From the getting the knowledge base to getting the quote to getting the service to actually having the system and using it in ways that I just didn't expect and how it's changed even going back to spots that I've been to before and not having to run a generator is absolutely worth it. It is something that we should have done a long time ago but, I get it, that the technology wasn't really there a long time ago. To be able to use this system the way that we do today, I'm really grateful for the team at Future Solutions. You know, I consider them friends today. That's how amazing their service and systems are!"
Rootless Living Magazine first found us through talking to Keep Your Daydream and seeing their YouTube video. They knew there was a lot of the world to see and staying in one place wasn't going to accomplish that. Before they started their full-time journey, they realized that no magazine hit on that experience of RV travel, on-the-road digital nomads, or helpful travel tips for anyone looking to stray away from a campground. With this, Rootless Living Magazine was born.

JANELLE AND ANDREW
Home with the Hooper’s (Andrew, Janelle & their 2 boys) approached us after seeing the KYD video and being recommended to us by one of our key RV OEM’s Keystone RV. The Hooper’s story is one that supports the ever-growing trend of working outside the office but to the extreme. The goal of their mission was less about work and more about spending time with the family, and we loved that mission!
In order to achieve this goal, the Hooper’s needed a system that would allow them the flexibility they needed when traveling across the country. Our way to achieve this was to build them one of the biggest off-grid systems we have done to allow them the ability to live PLUG-FREE. With approx. 2000W of solar and 6kW of inverted power, the entire coach can run off-grid, including both A/C’s and the washer and dryer (which, according to Janelle, is one of the best perks of the system). This system allowed their family to take their adventure anywhere their Keystone Montana 5th wheel would allow them to. The experience of working with the Hooper’s was bar none and we hope to see more families like the Hooper’s get out and spend time together!

"We decided to get an RV solar electrical system installed so that we could make off grid living a larger part of our life. We live in and travel in our rig, a Keystone Montana, full-time and love to explore new places. Having our rig upfitted with solar panels, great inverters, and BattleBorn lithium ion batteries has given total and complete freedom to explore these new places without the worry of what we will do for power. Our system has provided us total peace of mind and confidence in our ability to maintain our lifestyle uninterrupted and stress free. We are able to power all electronics, watch TV, run our washer and dryer, use the microwave and multiple other electronic kitchen devices. Choosing to work with the Future Solutions team was the easy part. Their prime location in the heart of the RV industry is a huge plus and their upfit team is top notch. Josh, Matt, and John are absolute electrical geniuses and their knowledge and ability to customize a system that meets any customer's needs is bar none. Future Solutions is definitely an industry leader in upfitting and we cannot recommend working with them and their team enough."
MARC AND TRICIA
Keep Your Daydream (Marc and Trish Leech) came recommended to us by a Battle Born Batteries and was in need of an installer to take their Grand Design Momentum 5th wheel from solar prep to Off-grid machine. After meeting them and hearing their mission, we embarked down the path of our standard upfit process to better understand their use-case for off-grid living. After dialing in the system components, KYD brought their rig and amazing video skills to Elkhart, IN. KYD filmed the install of their system and documented every step of the way for their viewers. The project was an amazing success and we are very grateful to have been able to work with KYD and their dedicated following.

"We found Future Solutions out of Elkhart, Indiana and they came highly recommended by BattleBorn Batteries and a legit installer and, I can tell you from personal experience, they are ridiculous! The knowledge and think tank between the team we had installing was top level. The reason we wanted to find a good install team was to find someone we feel comfortable with providing a referral to so that someone, who likes the system and is in the midwest area, has a resource. We have fortunately found that resource!"
CRAIG AND BRYANNA
Crazy Family Adventure was a house full with 4 children and 2 dogs when they decided to take their life from a big house and downsize to an RV. Life on the road called to them when they decided they wanted to enjoy time with one another and make memories while they can.
Their adventure began when becoming a Camping World and Keystone ambassador. After boondocking, they realized that their lifestyle goals weren’t being reached with the amount of power they had available.
Our partner, Keystone, referred Craig and Bryanna to us for their upfit. The first step was installing a package close to SuperSolar with added capabilities in their solar prepped Montana High Country. The system gave their GFI outlets and fridge the ability to run off of the new Solar and Lithium upfit while leaving them plenty of room for a future expansion to 1200W of Solar.
A few things they have enjoyed power for are Halloween movies every night of October and when the family decides to take the sports game outside to the big screen! Their Future Solutions upfit gives their family even more time to spend with one another and use more power from anywhere.

"Life living in an RV has been amazing! We have been to so many unbelievable places and a lot of them more than once. We love being able to wake up and walk out our front door to spectacular views and surroundings and then the next day pack up and head to a brand new place. The best part has been being able to get out and explore so much of North America!
We work from the road and our kids do some online classes so we definitely needed power to be able to charge our computers and have the ability to work on them all day and continuously charge them when needed. From a fun perspective, we needed power so the kids could play their videos games and we could watch outdoor movies on our projector! We also upgraded to a residential fridge in our new 5th wheel which gave us more than double the fridge and freezer space compared to our last trailer. The downside was it runs on electricity only and uses quite a bit of power. After the solar install, we can run all of this and more! Having solar has been amazing so we are able to continue to live and work as if we are at an RV park with full hookups! But instead of being crammed into a tight camping spot, we are able to stay in wide open spaces with beautiful views and no neighbors.
We had heard that Future Solutions is the best of the best when it comes to solar installs. From our first conversation with them we could tell that was the case! They asked all the right questions to make sure that we got the setup that we needed. We also liked the fact that Future Solutions worked so closely with the manufacturer. They had so much knowledge of what our Montana was prepped for which helped make the install super fast and smooth. Having a Future Solutions upfit gave us the freedom to go and camp where we want to without having to worry about power. Plus, we know the Future Solutions team is just a text message or phone call away if we have any questions!
The best part of working with Future Solutions is feeling confident in their knowledge on solar installs and knowing that they went above and beyond with the work they did for us. Plus knowing they are available for support questions and are there as we look to expand our setup has been great. When we were asked what Future Solutions could improve on, it was hard to come up with anything! Everything we have seen from working with Future Solutions has gone exactly as we hoped!
When going through the inquiry process, system designs, and system walk-through, it was beyond easy! For someone like me who doesn't have much background in solar it was all very easy for me to understand and was explained in terms that made sense to me. Then, for my husband who does understand solar, it was explained in more advanced terms to him so combined, we had a very clear picture of what had been installed and how everything worked."
Courtney “The Flipping Nomad” Armstrong and her “Ultimate Montana” project was unlike any other in the RV industry. When Keystone RV mentioned this opportunity to us, we jumped to be a part of it. The reason being this rig was a concept RV one-off build and would be a great platform to showcase what is possible in an RV for off-grid capabilities.
Due to the nature of the project, Keystone granted Courtney access to their R&D Center for the build to keep it under wraps until completion. This made the project unlike most being that we were required access to Keystone’s R&D Center to be able to complete the install with Courtney and her upfit team. This project was a great success locally but also nationally as she travels across country sharing this project with Montana Dealers and Off-Grid Nomads along the way.
"My name is Cortni and I have lived in an RV full time for 6 years. I also have a business renovating RVs. When we rebuild a rig, we focus on making it feel like a home but function like an RV. I recently teamed up with Keystone RV Company to build the Ultimate Montana which is a one-off insane fifth wheel. The interior was completely re-imagined to feel like a penthouse suite. Future Solutions worked their magic and installed an advanced energy management system that is just as impressive as the interior design. It has 1,590 watts of panels on the roof, ten BattleBorn Batteries that provide 1,000 Amp Hours, and two 3,000 watt Magnum Hybrid inverters. The Ultimate Montana has a lot of insane features like a margarita machine, huge outdoor stereo, projector TV, and Traeger smoker. I am able to run all of these features, in addition to the normal functions of an RV like the microwave and air conditioner, with the system from Future Solutions. But what impressed me the most with Future Solutions is they built the system to the RVIA code. There are so many "DIY" solar installers out there that it's hard to know who is trained and who isn't. The fact that they built to code was the cherry on top!"

Project: Toy Hauler
Before their installation, they started life on the road in February 2019. In the beginning, they relied on campground hookups for charging and a small 100W panel for the small things. Coming into our shop, they were looking at getting an off-grid package with 1200W of solar when they decided to take advantage of the moment and expand their system to as much as it could stand: a 2000W system!
"We have owned three ATC toy haulers and decided to get into this when I retired from the Marine Corps. Owning a toy hauler enables us to do major hunting trips out west, go on weekend adventures to new destinations without wasting money on hotels or restaurants, and provides peace of mind outside of a neighborhood setting. From 2018-mid 2020, we averaged 20 weekend trips per year and one month long hunting trips. As of August 2020, we are living full time in our new toy hauler.
We enjoy air conditioning, cooking with various appliances such as the air fryer and Instapot, and our residential refrigerator is not energy efficient. Lithium batteries was the best option to meet our power requirements and we like solar because it provides free battery charges no matter if we are 17 miles off the road, parked next to a friends home, or driving down the road.
After discovering Future Solutions on two YouTube channels, we decided to contact them. Our power requirements are similar to both families we watched and the company seemed customer friendly. There was no pressure, no ego, and no silliness.
The professional approach was our favorite part. Day 1 was the best because the men mapped out a flow chart on a whiteboard that was a detailed electrical plan on how everything would be located and wired in our very unique RV. This was also the first ATC 5th wheel toy hauler Future Solutions had taken on and they took extra time to develop their plan of execution. Two senior personnel were in contact with us weekly for several months leading up to the project and daily during the project. Even now, being 2,000 miles away, the crew is very responsive to our emails and have even had late night calls with us to teach us more effective ways to use our system. Customer support is exceptional.
Everything has been easy and we are not mechanically inclined people. John has been the biggest help as he recognizes our limitations and finds ways to help us understand what he wants us to do to the control panel. It is very nice to have a feature onboard that allows him to remotely monitor and control our system."

During the overhaul on their RV, the truck had truck charging capabilities installed for convenient charging on the go. This will help them live their best off-grid life.
"We are over the moon with how flexible this allows us to be as well as just the convenience of everything working without having to run a generator!" -@OurBackRoadHome
